As a high percentage of employees in the civil service are women, which amounts to 59 percent, effective childcare mechanisms are needed to support employees by creating family-friendly workplaces. The Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services is mandated with ensuring the well being of families and optimal child development.

Hence, the scope of this project is to seek financial assistance in development of a physical facility along with necessary equipment in the central, northern, and southern region of the country. The goal is to privatise the facilities upon establishment, after a period of three years, and for the Government to assume the role of a monitoring body.

In line with the above requirements, this project seeks to enable working mothers to follow their duties outside of the home without undue worries for the well being and care of their children, enable more women to work and mitigate the gender wage gap, increase women’s role in public life and decrease the level of mother’s dependence on Government assistance such as single mother’s benefits, and provide a physical environment of support for childcare to enhance learning capacity of children.
