Incorporating Technology Based Learning Initiatives and Capacity Building

The Government puts forth two projects in this area.

Strengthening Technology based teaching and learning by Establishing an Audio Visual (Multimedia) Studio at NIE to facilitate the development of Technology based teaching and learning materials:

Through this project, the Government seeks to establish a fully functional Audio Visual (Multimedia) Studio at NIE with the latest equipment needed for Multimedia Productions. Through the establishment of the multimedia technology based teaching and learning materials, the proposal seeks to enhance capacity at NIE to develop technology based teaching and learning materials related to the national curriculum, obtain the latest technology equipment to facilitate audio visual production and broadcasting of educational programs, and resolve current challenges to bring into effect technology based materials production.

Capacity building of NIE staff and school teachers:

One of the main mandates of the National Institute of Education (NIE) is to direct teachers and schools in reduction and in improvement of the learning gaps with effective curriculum implementation. Owing to the lack of capacity at NIE, there is a crucial need to equip the staff at NIE with the needed skills and knowledge. Through this project therefore, the Government seeks to obtain training for staff at NIE to support in-service teachers in areas of need, conduct an analysis of the teaching and learning process in specific key learning areas, and get consultancy from expertise to implement the best practices and support the key stakeholders in improving effective pedagogy and AFL in teaching and learning.
