It is a highly competitive environment for Maldivians when it comes to seeking employment in the job market, especially owing to the fact that the private sector often prefers to hire foreigners even for technical jobs where Maldivians trained in the fields are available.

It is also evident that there is a high resistance towards vocational education and more preferences for white-collar jobs among the Maldivians. In addition, most of the Maldivian citizens are unaware of the alternative pathways for education and employment available in the country. Therefore, it is crucial to promote and advocate the needs for alternative pathways for education and employment to ensure that youth and adults are skilled for the employment needs.

Through this proposal therefore, the Government seeks to execute a media campaign for public awareness through video and audio spots, carry out workshops for awareness of different stakeholders which includes the general public, local councils, members of industries, and NGOs, and request for consultancy on design and development of the related programs.
